Before you begin

A retreat is not a vacation.
It is a return.

The word retreat does not belong to mountains or monasteries. It never did. At its root, retreat means to withdraw from the noise in order to hear something true. To step back from the ordinary pace of your life and give your inner world the room it has been waiting for.

Before I Choose Again is a private retreat in exactly that sense. You do not travel anywhere. You go inward. You close the tab with the group chat and the dating app and the next distraction, and you open something that asks you to sit with yourself. At your own pace. In your own time. Without an audience.

Most women have never been given a space like this. Not a therapist's office with a clock on the wall. Not a workbook designed for mass consumption. A private, held space designed entirely around one woman doing the work she has been putting off, in her own voice, at the pace her healing actually requires.

What Women Are Saying

"I don't think I've ever had an experience like this. I really needed to go deep and sit with so many things. I'm not even halfway through it yet and I've already had moments that took me out emotionally. Wow. Just wow."

A Returning Unarmored Retreat

Before I
Forget Her

This is not about choosing again. This is about going back.

There are women you used to be that you have been trying to forget. The one who stayed too long. The one who disappeared quietly. The one who gave everything and apologized for running out. You did not forget her. You just stopped looking.

Before I Forget Her is a private retreat that takes you back for one of them, one at a time. You witness her. You thank her. You write her a letter. And you give her the name shame never did.

The Gallery

Eight archetypes. Recognize yourself in the women you used to be. Name them the way only you can.

The Retreat

Four movements. Find her. See her clearly. Tell her what you would say. Bring her home. Write the letter.

The Book

Every woman you witness is added to your book. Come back for another. The book grows. So do you.

Is this for you?

She is still in there.
You just stopped looking.

What's Inside

Four movements.
One woman coming home.

Movement 1

Find Her

Put her back in the room she was in. Her age. The year. What her face did when no one was watching.

Purpose: Recognition

Movement 2

See Her Clearly

What she believed about herself. What was actually true. What she was carrying that was never hers to hold.

Purpose: Witness

Movement 3

What You Would Tell Her

What you would say first. What she needed to hear. What you would leave in place because she had to live it to become you.

Purpose: Release Shame

Movement 4

Bring Her Home

Trace the line from her to you. Thank her. Write the letter. Give her the name shame never did.

Purpose: Anchor Change

"She is not a chapter you close. She is the reason you are still standing."

Before I Forget Her

The Keepsake

Every woman you witness
is added to your book.

Come back for another. Come back for as many as you need. The Book of Women I Was holds all of them, and it grows every time you return.

Is this for you?

She knows herself.
She just forgot
to ask the hard questions.

This experience is for the woman who has loved hard, given everything, and is tired of ending up in the same place with different faces.

Not because she's broken. Because she never had a space that asked her to look at herself this honestly before choosing again.

Chanita' Christmas, founder of Returning Unarmored

From the Founder

I built this because
I needed it to exist.

I'm Chanita' Christmas. Writer, photographer, storyteller, and the woman behind Returning Unarmored.

I spent years being the strong one. The fixer. The over-giver. The woman who loved hard and called exhaustion devotion. I ignored red flags, carried weight that wasn't mine, and built armor so thick I genuinely forgot who was inside it.

"I did not find this through a program or a podcast or a perfectly timed revelation. I found it in the questions I finally got honest enough to ask myself."

I've lived in six countries. I've started over more times than I can count. And somewhere between Vietnam and Georgia, between who I was and who I am becoming, I started returning to myself.

I'm a published photographer with over a decade behind the camera, shooting in six countries, capturing strangers mid-story, and finding meaning in the quiet moments most people walk past. That eye for truth doesn't stay behind the camera. It shows up in everything I build here. The photography throughout this brand is mine. It's the world I've moved through and the visual language of what returning to yourself actually looks like.

This experience is that process. Made into something you can return to whenever you need to find your way back.

Questions

Before you decide

Which retreat is right for me?
Before I Forget Her is for the woman who needs to go back first. If there is a version of you that you have been carrying in shame, trying to forget, or never properly thanked for surviving, that retreat is for her. Before I Choose Again is for the woman thinking about what comes next in love and relationships. It works through your patterns, your armor, and your standards so you can make a different choice going forward. You can do them in either order. Many women find that Before I Forget Her opens something that Before I Choose Again then helps them build on.
What exactly are these retreats?
Both Before I Forget Her and Before I Choose Again are self-paced private retreats that lives in your browser. It guides you through five sections of deep self-inquiry, each one building on the last, in a sequence designed to take you from pattern awareness all the way to a declaration of who you are now. It is fully interactive, privately yours, and unlike anything you have opened before. Some women move through it in one sitting. Others sit with a section for days before they are ready to continue. Both are right. You move at the pace your healing actually requires. If you are looking for a word you already know, the closest one is retreat. But it does not live in your downloads folder. It lives in a browser like a beautifully designed website, and it holds you the entire way through.
How do I access it after I purchase?
You'll receive an email with a private URL and password. Open it in Chrome or Safari on a desktop or tablet. No app to download, no account to create. It's yours permanently.
Does it save my responses?
Yes. Your responses auto-save to your browser as you type. When you come back, everything is right where you left it. At the end of Section Five, you can download your complete reflections as a permanent personal document.
Is this faith-based or religious?
No. Returning Unarmored is spiritually aware but not spiritually led. This retreat is for every woman regardless of where she is on her spiritual or religious path. The work is rooted in self-honesty, not doctrine.
I'm already in a relationship. Is this still for me?
Yes. This experience is about understanding yourself: your patterns, your armor, your standards. That work is valuable whether you're single, dating, or in a relationship. Many women move through it to show up differently in the relationship they're already in.

She came in carrying everything.
She leaves with herself.
